How Much Does Short Term Generator Hire Cost?
Short term generator hire costs around £50 to £150 per day, depending on the unit's power capacity and duration of hire. Units with higher power output, such as 10kVA or more, are typically more expensive, suited for construction sites or events that require substantial power.
The type of generator, be it diesel, petrol or LPG, can also affect pricing, as each fuel type offers different efficiencies and running costs. Additional features such as soundproofing options, automatic transfer switches, or parallel operation capabilities can further influence the cost and functionality.
We regularly inspect our generators according to industry standards to ensure reliable performance. Typically, larger generators for heavy-duty applications are priced higher.

How Do I Maintain a Hired Generator?
Maintaining a hired generator involves regular checks and basic upkeep to ensure optimal performance and longevity. First, inspect fuel levels daily and refill with the correct grade of diesel recommended for your model.
Check oil levels and change it approximately every 100 hours of use, as specified in the user manual. Ensure air filters are clean and replace them if blocked to maintain efficient airflow.
Avoid overloading the unit by calculating the total wattage required for your equipment before use and ensure it is within the generator's capacity. We recommend conducting a visual inspection of the electrical connections and cables for signs of wear or damage.
Our team provides a detailed guide on these maintenance procedures, and we include support during the hire period to help address any issues that might arise. For further assistance, our knowledgeable staff is always ready to offer guidance and technical support.
How Long Does Setting Up a Hired Generator Take?
Setting up a hired generator typically takes one to two hours, depending on the complexity and location of the site. Our experienced technicians handle all aspects of the installation process.
This includes the safe unloading of the generator using specialised equipment like forklifts or crane trucks, especially for larger units. The positioning of the generator is crucial, and factors such as proximity to the power source and ventilation are considered to ensure optimal performance.
We conduct a thorough check of electrical connections, adhering to relevant safety standards such as BS 7671 for electrical installations.
Additionally, we test the generator's functionality before handing it over, ensuring it meets performance specifications. Our team provides a briefing on operating procedures and safety measures to ensure users can confidently manage the generator.
